Presumably, the result of DMCA take downs.
In this post, a list of domain names for which blank pins are found, will be updated regularly. Feel free to add to the list in the comment section.

Any time I've sent takedowns, upon followup, the page just didn't have my image anymore. I've never seen the blank pin. Maybe they pinner removed it? Or someone sent a takedown but didn't provide the image urls? Or do they have a filter for certain images? Weird.
Most of my take downs initially show up as framed, blank pins, keeping in mind that I always use the email route, and never their online form. In some cases, I think the pinners eventually delete the empty frames, but some rarely access their accounts, or pin-and-forget, and the empty frames seem to linger for weeks.
When a pinner removes a pin, the whole frame disappears.
